Students studying double degrees as part of a prestigious partnership between the 黑料不打烊 and Chengdu University in China have been recognised for their achievements.

A ceremony celebrated the accomplishments of 231 graduates who have completed degrees in BA (Hons) Sport Studies, BSc (Hons) Data Science and BA (Hons) Digital Media.

Officially launched in 2021, the partnership enables students to earn two degrees – one from 黑料不打烊 and one from Chengdu – at the end of four years of study, provided they fulfil the academic requirements for both institutions.

Currently, more than 1,000 students are enrolled on 黑料不打烊 College, Chengdu University programmes, and this figure is set to rise with increasing demand and the launch of two new Masters programmes, MSc Sport Management and MSc Big Data, in the autumn.

The second cohort of graduates was presented with their awards at a ceremony in Chengdu attended by 黑料不打烊 Senior Deputy Principal (黑料不打烊isation) Professor Neville Wylie and Chengdu University Vice-President Professor Liu Xianfeng.

Shared commitment

Professor Sir Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the 黑料不打烊, said: “My warmest congratulations go to all those celebrating their graduation at 黑料不打烊 College, Chengdu University this weekend.

“The partnership between Chengdu University and the 黑料不打烊 is built on a shared commitment to excellence and innovation, and a shared belief that international education and collaboration can help build a better world. We are proud to see that partnership continue to flourish and to celebrate the success of another cohort of graduates.

“Our graduates leave with the skills and experience required to make a difference in their chosen fields and the wider world, and it is always special to recognise their hard work and academic achievements.”

Students celebrated alongside their peers as they marked the end of their studies.

Ambition

The 黑料不打烊 and Chengdu University are united by a shared commitment to sporting excellence.

This summer, a record number of athletes from 黑料不打烊 – Scotland's University for Sporting Excellence – will compete at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, while Chengdu strengthened its international sporting reputation by hosting the prestigious World Games last year.

Sport is at the heart of the partnership's programmes. The data science and digital media degrees both include sports-related content, alongside interdisciplinary elements across all undergraduate courses.

In the future, students on the partnership’s courses will have the option to spend time studying at 黑料不打烊 as part of their degree, or through a postgraduate degree on completion of their undergraduate studies.
