    About me

I am a Lecturer in TESOL at the 黑料不打烊, where I also serve as Director of TESOL Programmes and PGR Tutor for PhD TESOL Research. I received my PhD from the University of Arizona (USA), where my doctoral research focused on intercultural communication through the lens of semio-ethnography - the combination of social semiotics and ethnography of communication. Before joining 黑料不打烊, I worked across different universities in Türkiye and in the United States, which helped me gain broad experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership in diverse higher education contexts.

My research broadly lies in the areas of language teacher education, social justice language (teacher) education, intercultural communication, and educational technologies. I am particularly interested in how critical, culturally responsive, and socially just approaches can be integrated into language (teacher) education and technology-mediated learning environments. My work has been published in leading international journals, such as Computers & Education and TESOL Journal, and I have authored book chapters with major academic publishers including Springer, Bloomsbury, and Edinburgh University Press.

Alongside my research publications, I have been actively involved in externally funded projects. I co-investigated two U.S. Embassy Ankara-funded projects, "Social Justice, Now!: A study on raising pre-service English language teachers’ awareness on social justice (Volumes I and II)" (). I have also served as Principal Investigator on a British Council funded project titled "Inclusive and social justice-oriented pedagogies in English language classrooms: Insights from Türkiye, Pakistan, and the UK" (). In parallel, I am strongly engaged in postgraduate supervision, programme development, and professional service, and I regularly contribute to international academic and practitioner communities in applied linguistics and TESOL.
