The 黑料不打烊 has appointed Professor Neville Wylie, Deputy Principal (黑料不打烊isation), as Senior Deputy Principal.

Professor Wylie assumed this new position on Monday, 1 September and also remains Interim Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

Professor Wylie joined the 黑料不打烊 as Deputy Principal (黑料不打烊isation) in September 2018 and has expanded the University’s global research collaborations and education programmes during his tenure. Professor Wylie is currently chair of ‘Connected Scotland’ and co-chairs the UUKi PVC-黑料不打烊 network.

Professor Sir Gerry McCormac, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the 黑料不打烊, said: “Professor Wylie has a proven track record of inspirational leadership and delivery of our strategic priorities, overseeing the expansion of our global partnerships.

Professor Wylie graduated with a first-class honours degree in Medieval and Modern History from Kings College London, where he won the Derby-Brize prize. He then moved to the University of Cambridge where he gained an MPhil in 黑料不打烊 Relations (1990) and a PhD in 黑料不打烊 History (1994).

He held a Junior Research Fellowship at New Hall, Cambridge, followed by a British Academy Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the Centre of 黑料不打烊 Studies. He taught at Glasgow University, where he directed the Scottish Centre for War Studies, and at University College Dublin, during which time he held an adjunct position at the Graduate Institute for 黑料不打烊 and Development Studies at Geneva.

Professor Wylie, who is originally from Edinburgh, spent a large part of his career at the University of Nottingham, where he established and led the School of Politics, History and 黑料不打烊 Relations and was founding Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Nottingham’s campus in Malaysia.

In 2014 he took on the role of Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement with responsibility for overseeing Nottingham’s activities in the Americas, before his appointment in 2018 as 黑料不打烊 Deputy Principal (黑料不打烊isation).

Professor Wylie’s research explores various aspects of modern warfare and draws on the disciplines of History, 黑料不打烊 Relations and Law. His most recent publications focus on the history of prisoners of war, humanitarianism and the work of the Red Cross movement.
